Frequently Asked Questions
Practice & Policy Questions
Fees and Payment
Sessions are 50 minutes. Individual sessions are $200, and couples sessions are $225. Payment is due at the time of each session by credit card, debit card, or HSA/FSA card through my secure client portal.
Scheduling
Appointments are available Monday through Friday by appointment only. You can schedule or change sessions directly through the online portal or by emailing me.
Out-of-Network Insurance
I do not bill insurance directly but can provide a monthly superbill so you can request reimbursement from your insurance company if your plan covers out-of-network mental-health services.
Why Don’t You Take Insurance?
Working outside of insurance allows me to maintain your privacy, protect your clinical records, and tailor our sessions to your needs rather than insurance restrictions. This ensures therapy remains flexible and focused on your goals, not a diagnosis.
Medicare
At this time, I am not a Medicare provider and cannot accept Medicare reimbursement.
Notice of Privacy Practices
Your confidentiality is protected by law. Information shared in therapy is kept private except in specific circumstances required by law (such as safety concerns or court orders). A full HIPAA-compliant privacy notice is available upon request.
Therapy Process Questions
About Therapy
Therapy is a collaborative process centered on curiosity, safety, and connection. Each session focuses on what matters most to you that day, blending reflection with practical tools for daily life.
Getting Started
I offer a complimentary 20-minute consultation to see if we’re a good fit. If you decide to move forward, we’ll schedule weekly or bi-weekly sessions based on your needs.
What Is a Typical Session Like?
Sessions often include conversation, mindfulness or grounding exercises, and gentle exploration of thoughts and feelings. You set the pace, and I guide the process with care and curiosity.
How Long Will I Be in Therapy?
The length of therapy varies for each person. Some clients come for several months to address specific goals, while others choose ongoing support for deeper work and growth.
Risks and Benefits of Therapy
Therapy can bring up strong emotions or memories as you explore your past and patterns. This is a natural part of the process, and I’ll help you stay grounded and supported as you move through it. The benefits include greater clarity, resilience, and emotional balance.
Areas of Focus
I specialize in trauma-informed care, Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy, relationship counseling, and nervous system regulation. I also work with anxiety, self-esteem, grief, and identity-related challenges.
What Is Telehealth?
Telehealth sessions take place via secure video on a HIPAA-compliant platform. It allows you to meet from the comfort of your own space while maintaining the same level of confidentiality as in-person sessions.
Risks and Benefits of Telehealth
Online therapy offers flexibility and accessibility but depends on your privacy and internet connection. It may not be suitable if you lack a private space or stable internet. We’ll discuss what feels best for you.
What Telehealth Platform Do You Use?
I use SimplePractice, a HIPAA-secure platform that works on any computer or mobile device. You’ll receive a private link before each session—no account or software download required.
